SUSTAINABLE CORPORATE OFFICE
Professor: Birju Dixit | Individual | Sonmarg, India | 2022
Located within the unforgiving embrace of a cold climate, this project for a corporate office space embodies a holistic approach to sustainability, seamlessly blending with its surroundings while providing a nurturing workspace for its inhabitants. Central to the design ethos is the utilization of a slanted glass facade on the south side, ingeniously calibrated to minimize direct sunlight and maximize visual engagement with the majestic mountain scenery beyond. This architectural feature not only regulates interior temperatures but also fosters a profound connection to the natural landscape, elevating the daily work experience. Complementing this facade, carefully selected building materials with high thermal mass properties are employed, adeptly absorbing solar heat during the day to be slowly released at night, ensuring a comfortable environment regardless of external temperatures. Passive solar design principles are integrated, optimizing orientation and window placement to harness natural light and warmth, further reducing energy demands. Superior insulation and ventilation systems complete the ensemble, ensuring both thermal efficiency and indoor air quality. Through panoramic views and expansive gathering spaces, design invites occupants to immerse themselves in the tranquility and inspiration of their surrou- dings, fostering a symbiotic relation-ship between architecture and nature.
